Based in Washington State, Derek first joined the Pinkston Group in 2002. He currently heads the firm’s technology practice, which includes a broad portfolio of established and startup companies in industries from media/entertainment to health care and government contracting.
Derek is an expert in messaging and content development, translating corporate jargon and techno-geekspeak into compelling thought-leadership pieces and programs. He has ghost-written books, op-eds, articles and white papers that have been published in outlets from coast to coast. His crisis communications messaging work includes a broad range of corporate and political engagements, including two national issue campaigns.
Derek previously managed marketing and communications for the entrepreneurship and technology transfer arms of the largest university in the United States. He has also worked at marketing/communications firms in Georgetown and San Diego, as well as the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
