In February 2011, the Pinkston Group was hired to launch a two-month comprehensive public relations campaign for the feature-length motion picture Atlas Shrugged Part 1, the first of a three-part big-screen adaptation of Ayn Rand’s popular novel. The campaign included promoting the film through radio, television and print interviews for producers Harmon Kaslow and John Aglialoro, as well as several cast members. In addition to securing interviews, the Pinkston Group obtained reviews of the film in major publications nationwide.
The Pinkston Group worked with several groups during the campaign to organize screenings and press events in the Washington, D.C., area. An event at the Heritage Foundation proved to be an important tipping point for media coverage of the film. In addition organizing events at the Heritage Foundation, Americans for Tax Reform and FreedomWorks, the Pinkston Group also helped secure key guests and media for the Washington, D.C., premiere at Union Station.
The producers appeared on more than 110 radio programs, including 19 nationally syndicated programs. Articles and interviews on the film appeared in more than 100 publications nationwide, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, and Washingotn Times. Nationally syndicated columnists including Cal Thomas, Fred Barnes and Paul Bedard wrote reviews of the film. The producers retained the Pinkston Group to provide public relations support for the film’s DVD/Blu-Ray release in the fall of 2011, as well as for the theatrical release of Atlas Shrugged Part II in October 2012.
